William G. Stairs, 78, Confluence, passed away Wednesday, January 24, 2018 at his home. He was born January 1, 1940 in Confluence, a son of James and Freda (Kreger) Stairs. His parents, wife, Helen (Wass) Stairs and brothers, Dane and James, Jr. preceded him in death. He is survived by a daughter, Amy C. Stairs Fowler and husband, Alex, Glen Burnie, MD and a son, Clayton J. Stairs and wife, Karen, Pawleys Island, SC; grandchildren, Elijah, Nathan and Carter Stairs; sisters, Bess McClintock and Linda McClintock and husband, Larry, all of Confluence; nieces and nephews and his dog, Pearl. Bill retired from NSA at Fort Meade, MD. Friends will be received from 1-3 PM Sunday at the Humbert Funeral Home in Confluence, where a memorial service will follow the visitation at 3 o'clock with Rev. Samuel McClintock officiating. Inurnment in Cedar Hill Cemetery, Baltimore, MD. In lieu of flowers, the family suggests memorial contributions to the Humane Society of Somerset Co., 204 Whitetail Rd., Somerset, PA 15501.
