Steven D. Ravenscroft, 72, Ohiopyle, passed away Tuesday, September 5, 2023 in Uniontown. He was born December 27, 1950 in Confluence, a son of Marcellus C. "Sam" and Virginia Ruth (Hall) Ravenscroft. His parents, an infant brother, Charles and his former wife and friend, Linda J. Harris preceded him in death. He is survived by brothers, Marke and wife, Kathryn, Santee, CA and Kevin, Ohiopyle; nieces, Angela Cannon and husband, Garry, Santee and Jennifer Martinez and husband, Richard, Descanso, CA; great niece, Ellie Martinez and great nephew, Benjamin Martinez, also of Descanso and good friends Patricia and Mike Sutphin, Newport News, VA. Steve was a veteran of the Vietnam War, having served with the US Army 28th Infantry Division. He was a graduate of Uniontown Area Senior High School Class of 1969, Fayette County Area Technical School, earning a certificate in Machine Drafting and Design and Fayette Institute of Commerce and Technology. He retired from Newport News Ship Building Propulsion and Engineering. He was a member of Falls City Baptist Church in Ohiopyle and a former member of the Ohiopyle Vol. Fire Dept. He was once an avid hunter and fisherman and enjoyed whitewater rafting on the Youghiogheny River. A private graveside service will be followed by interment in Johnson Chapel Cemetery.
