Sara J. Spear, 83, of Addison, died April 1, 2013 at In Touch Hospice House of Journey's Rest, Somerset. She was born July 7, 1929 in Confluence, a daughter of Franklin E. and Ella F. (Colflesh) Wirsing. Her parents, husband, George Vernon, daughter, Carol Bennett, brothers, Eston, Donald and Theodore Wirsing and sisters, Louise Koontz, Helen Wirsing and Ruth Shope preceded her in death. She is survived by granddaughters, Pamela Bennett, Somerset, Natalie Hudson and husband, Jason, Parkton, MD; grandson, Jeffrey Bennett and wife Melissa, Confluence; great granddaughters, Brittany Dwire and Brooke Bennett and sisters, Geraldine Schrecengost, Pittsburgh, Shirley Graham and husband, Ervin, Addison and Mary Lou Morrison, Confluence, and son-in-law, Eugene Bennett, Addison. Sara was a member of the Addison Volunteer Fire Department Ladies Auxiliary and the Addison United Methodist Church and for many years served as an inspector of elections for Addison Borough. Friends will be received from 2-4 and 6-8 pm Wednesday April 3, at the Humbert Funeral Home in Confluence where a service will be held at 11 am Thursday, April 4 with Rev. Gregory Stiver officiating. Interment will follow in Addison Cemetery.
