Ruth H. Fichtner Blycheck, 85, Confluence, passed away Monday, August 12, 2024 at the home of her daughter, Nancy. She was born October 7, 1938 in the Cove, Accident, MD, a daughter of Harry and Leah (Warrick) Hockman.   Her parents, husbands, Bliss Fichtner, Thomas Burkey and Paul Blycheck, grandson, Randy Mitchell, 7 brothers and a sister preceded her in death. She is survived by daughters, Nancy Mitchell (Robert), Confluence, Sally McClintock, Somerset and Barbara Shipley (Ronald), Confluence; grandchildren, David Mitchell, Rebecca Mitchell, Brooke Weyant, Jena Brenneman and Bria Arnold; great grandson, Logan Mitchell; a brother and 2 sisters. Ruth was employed as a nurse and care giver and a school bus driver in Somerset for a number of years. She was a President's Club sales member for Avon for over 50 years; a former member of the Confluence Women's Civic Club and the Turkeyfoot Valley Baptist Church; a member of St. Paul's United Church of Christ, Somerset and attended St. Peter's RC Church in Somerset. An avid reader, she was a graduate of Northern (MD) High School and Allegany College of Maryland. Friends will be received from 2-4 and 6-8 PM Wednesday at the Humbert Funeral Home in Confluence, where a service will be held at 9 AM Thursday with Rev. Matthew Deal officiating. Interment will follow in Turkeyfoot Valley Baptist Cemetery.
