Obituary

Roberta B. Tressler, born January 21, 1925, passed away peacefully on July 16, 2016, surrounded by love. She lived a good long life at 91 years old. Her only regret was being without her beloved Blair, for thirty years. He was the love of her life. She would often laugh and say she raised a husband and six kids -- and enjoyed every moment of it. She met Blair during the summers she spent with her grandma in Confluence. Theirs was a love story for the ages. Due to being only 17, she eloped to marry Blair W. Tressler without her mom knowing. Leona and Charlie Nolf (Blair's sister who married Roberta's brother) were the witnesses. Blair was then shipped out for WWII. He returned to his bride 18 months later and had to tell her mother they were married! She loved him too....after the shock wore off. After WWII ended, they moved around the country while Blair built coal cleaning plants in various states. Roberta's only rule was if the job was shorter than a full school year, she and the kids would stay home in Confluence and Blair would travel back and forth. If the job was long enough for a full school year, they would pack up the kids and off to a new school they would go. Exciting times. There were many schools and many friends along the way. One of the most enduring of friendships was the one Roberta had with Dorothy Rugg for over 70 years. Dorothy was the sister she never had. They raised kids together, attended the Church of God in Ursina together and were charter members of the America Legion Ladies Auxiliary #946 in Ursina. Their friendship endured a lifetime of laughter, tears, and triumphs. Roberta was "mom" to many and always enjoyed a house full of kids and commotion. She will be missed by many. She is survived by her children, grandchildren and numerous great grandchildren: Karen Ohler (Leon); Mark Tressler (Gloria); Alan Tressler; Susan Wilson (Shaun); Paula Draheim (Dan). She was predeceased by her beloved Blair (who is so happy now to have her in his arms again); her much loved son, Bill (Blair Jr), who has missed his mom's apple dumplings; her beloved Karen Ann (Alan's wife), who missed her spiritual friendship; and her beloved grandson, Matt (son of Karen & Alan), who passed far too soon. Do not be sad for the family as they had many, many wonderful years with Roberta and enjoyed some of the best piecrust anywhere in the country! Celebrate her life, her love for her family and her overwhelming joy to be side by side with her Blair again. There will be no viewing or visitation. A private funeral service will be held Friday, July 22, 2016 with burial to follow in Wesley Chapel Cemetery. A Memorial Service/Celebration of Life service celebrating Roberta's life will be held at 2 PM Saturday, August 27, 2016 at the United Community Church of God in Ursina.
