On Friday, August 3, 2018 at 10:30 Leana Jane Burow (nee Thomas) passed away at Baltimore Washington Medical Center in Glen Burnie, MD. Born February 8, 1928, in Lamberton, PA, she was the daughter of the late Franklin Harold and Hannah Phoebe (Tallentire) Thomas. She was also preceded in death by her husband, Carl Sydney Burow, to whom she was married for 68 years; father-in-law, Edward Albert Burow; mother-in-law, Ida Clemence Burow. In addition to her parents and husband, she is predeceased by her stepmother Pauline (Younkin) Thomas, sister Reta Grace (Thomas) Burow and step-siblings Mabel (Hoover) Suder and Jack Hoover. Surviving are three daughters, Barbara Ann Jeeter (Larry), Linda Lee Davis (Bruce) and Carla Jane Denhardt (Mike). Also surviving are seven grandchildren Jarrod Jeeter (Erin), Lara Jeeter Mellendick (Joey), Dane Jeeter (Kristen), Jama Carey, Max Rosen, Elissa and Kyle Denhardt and six great-grandchildren: Asher, Lucie, Margot, Delilah, Trent and Elin. Surviving siblings are Peg Mackey, Delores Perry (Bill), Harold Thomas (Peg), Kay Koontz (Tom), Tommy (Ellen) Thomas. Leana was raised on a farm in Pennsylvania and learned many skills. She was an avid crafter, quilter and seamstress. She was a member of the Gerard Plaza Women's Club and served as the president and chaired many committees. Her greatest joy was her grandchildren and great grandchildren. Friends will be received from 10 AM – 10:30 AM Saturday at the Humbert Funeral Home in Confluence, where a memorial service will be held at 10:30 with Rev. Samuel McClintock officiating. Inurnment will follow in Addison Cemetery. In lieu of flowers, the family kindly requests memorial contributions be sent to The Michael J. Fox Foundation for Parkinson's Research.
