Obituary

James "Jim" Newton Diehl, 85, Addison, passed away peacefully in his home on Thursday, May 3, 2018. He was born November 8, 1932 in East McKeesport to parents, Victor H. and Ruth (Leeper) Diehl. His parents, brother, David and an infant sister, Grace preceded him in death. Jim is survived by his wife of 62 years, Beverly (Tissue) Diehl, whom he married on June 5, 1955. Also surviving are five children, Janie Bergman and husband, Ryan, Carol Resh and husband, Randy, Robin Thieler, Glenn Diehl and wife, Holly and Michael Diehl and wife, Barbara; nine grandchildren and nine great grandchildren. Jim grew up on his family's farm, Diehl Farms, where he and Beverly raised their family and still resided at the time of his passing. Farming and family were his passions. If he wasn't in the fields or tending livestock, he could be found working on a piece of machinery. His mechanical expertise was well known and respected in the community. He enjoyed imparting his knowledge of mechanics and equipment on his sons and grandsons as they became an integral part of the farm operation. In addition to farming and mechanics, Jim was also known to many as a dedicated school bus driver for Turkeyfoot Valley Area School District for 18 years. He will be deeply missed by his family, friends and all who knew him. A time of gathering and visitation will be held on Sunday from 4-8 PM at the Humbert Funeral Home in Confluence. Interment will be private in the Addison Cemetery. The family suggests donations in Jim's memory to Fayette Home Care and Hospice, 110 Youngstown Rd., Lemont Furnace, PA 15456.
