Emily A. Brougher, 91, Markleton, passed away Wednesday, January 10, 2024 at her home with her family at her side. She was born September 25, 1932 in Felton, DE, a daughter of the late John Merritt and Ann Elizabeth (Short) Hurd. Her husband, Ray preceded her in death. She is survived by a son, Tom (Shirley), Markleton and daughters, Kelly Mills (Tom), Verdi, NV and Melissa Barry (Richard), Brownsville; grandchildren, Jeremy Brougher (Stephanie), Summerville, SC, Briana Younkin (Sean Cross), Sparks, NV, Richard Barry II (Dominique Bartholomai), Hiller and Braden Barry, Brownsville; great grandchildren, Elliana and Zane Brougher, Emmit Fuentes and Arlo Barry; also a brother, John M. Hurd, Jr., Dover, DE. Emily was a life member of the Kingwood Church of God and a jury officer for Somerset County Court for 28 years until her retirement. Her life of faith and devotion to her church and community was a testament to all who knew her. Friends will be received from 2-4 and 6-8 PM Friday at the Humbert Funeral Home in Confluence. A funeral service will be held Saturday at 11 AM in the Kingwood Church of God with Rev. William Miller and Rev. James Monticue officiating. Interment will follow in Kingwood IOOF Cemetery. There will be viewing at the church one hour prior to the service on Saturday. The family would like to thank caregivers, Cathy DuVall and Coleen Conn and the Windber Hospice Staff for their kindness to Emily.
