Donald Ray Thomas, 68, of Ursina, passed away suddenly on September 20, 2016 in Somerset Hospital. He was born April 27, 1948 in Somerset, a son of Laura (Mintmier) Thomas of Somerset and the late Donald P. Thomas. In addition to his father, a sister, Kathleen Goss preceded him in death. He is survived by his wife of 45 years, Loretta (Rugg) and 2 children, Lisa Marie Megown and husband, Ronald and Donald Michael Thomas, both of Ursina; a grandson, Derrick Kenneth Megown; step grandson, Anthony Megown and 2 great grandchildren, A.J. and Alora Megown; his mother; brothers, Eugene Thomas and wife, Helen, Somerset and Roger Thomas and friend, Bobbi, Scullton and a sister, Janice Thomas, Somerset. Also, several nieces and nephews. Don attended Rockwood Area High School Class of 1966 but received his GED while serving in the army. He was a Sgt. in the US Army during the Vietnam War until discharged in 1968. He was employed at Bender Shoe, Crane Plumbing and Ohiopyle Prints. He enjoyed classic cars and spending time with his family, especially his grandson, Derrick. He will be greatly missed. Friends will be received Friday from 2-4 and 6-8 PM at the Humbert Funeral Home in Confluence and Saturday from 10 to 11 AM, the hour of service, at the United Community Church of God in Ursina.
