Donald G. "Sharkey" Baker, 88, Markleton, went home to be with his Lord and Savior, Jesus Christ on Monday, February 25, 2019. Don was born on May 1, 1930 in Acosta to parents Lester and Blanche (Knopsnyder) Baker. He married his "sweetie" Lois (Trimpey) Baker on February 1, 1951 and together they had 6 children. Don worked as an over the road truck driver for 39 years, faithfully providing for his family. After retirement, he worked as a bus driver for the Turkeyfoot Valley School District and served as an active member of the Kingwood Church of God. His life was dedicated to his faith, family and friends. He also loved the outdoors and was an avid hunter. Don was preceded in death by his parents and three brothers, Robert "Bob" Baker, Kenneth "Skeet" Baker and Roy "Judd" Baker. He is survived by his wife, Lois, and 6 children; Frederick and wife, Donna Gail, Rockwood, Laberta Kreger and husband, Richard, Markleton, David and wife, Kaye, Garrett, Paul and wife, Deborah, Rockwood, Keith and wife, Sharon, Markleton, and Rex and girlfriend, Rachel Lynne, Markleton; 12 grandchildren, Melissa Friedline, Andrew Baker, Theresa Judy, Heidi Redmond, Lacey Fernbaugh, Nathan Baker, Valerie Wong, Jessica Broderick, Stephen Baker, Krystal Faidley, Nicole Adams and Rex Baker, Jr., 24 great grandchildren and a brother, Dale Baker and wife, Eileen, Markleton. Friends will be received from 4-8 PM Thursday at the Humbert Funeral Home in Confluence, where a service will be held at 11 AM Friday with Rev. James Monticue officiating. Interment will follow in Old Bethel Cemetery. There will be viewing one hour prior to the service on Friday.
