Carl M. Nickelson, Jr., 80, Confluence, passed away Wednesday, February 16, 2022 at his home. He was born May 11, 1941 in Lower Turkeyfoot Twp., a son of Carl M. and Mary Ellen (Smith) Nickelson. His parents and a sister, Shirley Higdon preceded him in death. He is survived by his wife, Sandra (Spears), son, Carl M. III and wife, Peggy, Confluence and daughters, Michelle Mull and husband, Mark, Rockwood and Kathy Nickelson, Somerset; grandchildren, Carl IV, Amanda, Renee and Adam Nickelson and Joshua Mull and wife, Becca and Matthew Mull and wife, Linda; great grandchildren, Jaryd Powell, Silas Nickelson and Alexis, Lilyauna, Atlas and Evelynn Mull and a niece, Mary Kalp and husband, Tom, Confluence. Carl was a 1959 graduate of Turkeyfoot Valley Area High School and a veteran of the U.S. Army. He was a member of the International Brotherhood of Electrical Workers and employed as a lineman for Somerset Rural Electric Cooperative for over 38 years until his retirement. Friends will be received from Noon until 1 PM Monday at the Humbert Funeral Home in Confluence, were a memorial service will follow the visitation at 1 PM with Rev. Duane Riddle officiating and the Somerset County Honor Guard providing military services.
