Obituary

Betty Jane (Gary) McClintock, 90, Confluence, was called home to heaven to be with her Lord and Savior on September 11, 2020 at her home, surrounded by her children. She was born February 8, 1930 in Belltown (a coal mining town near Acosta) the eldest of eight children of Harry R. and Cora Grace (Sanner) Gary. She was preceded in death by her parents, husband, Elwood Dwaine McClintock, brothers and sisters, Patricia Jean (Gary) Phillippi, Harold Richard Gary, Howard Raymond "Bob" Gary, James Edward Gary, Nola Marie (Gary) Sterner Hoover, Judith Kay Gary and Orville Floyd "Bud" Gary. She is survived by a daughter, Kim (McClintock) Freeman and husband, Mark, Colorado Springs, CO, and son, Tim McClintock, Confluence and his girlfriend, Lisa Leeper, Mt. Pleasant; brother-in-law, Rev. Darwin "Tom" Hoover, sister-in-law, Betty Colflesh and many nieces, nephews, cousins and adopted sons and daughters. Betty has been a long standing, faithful member of the Confluence Church of the Nazarene for nearly 50 years. She was a devoted, loving wife and mother who dedicated her life to serving God and helping others anyway she could. Her unwavering faith was demonstrated in the walk she walked. She didn't just talk the talk, but lived it out daily. She was a dedicated prayer warrior for many decades and had a card ministry for over 40 years, always writing a note of encouragement and listing her favorite scripture verses, Psalm 121: 1,2 – "I will lift up mine eyes unto the hills from whence cometh my help. My help cometh from the Lord which made heaven and earth." She enjoyed planting and growing many different flowers, working in her garden, canning things she raised, quilting, reading her Bible daily, watching hummingbirds and cardinals, walks in the woods, going to the beach and being outside when it was 90 degrees in the shade. She enjoyed animals, especially her cats, Sam and Charlie. She was a faithful Sunday school teacher and enjoyed helping with VBS, crafts and numerous other roles within her church. She was employed at one time by Dr. Edwin Price, where she worked as a nurse at his practice in Confluence. She loved spending time with family members and her church family and friends. She and Dwaine owned and operated a second hand store at their residence (McClintock's New and Used Merchandise) for many years, helping others within the community. Betty was a giver not a taker and will be dearly missed by her children, cat, Sam and many other family and friends, who have shared her journey. She fought the good fight and won the race. She kept the faith and is now reaping her reward in heaven, where we shall see her again. At Betty's request there will be no viewing or funeral service at this time. A memorial service at the Confluence Church of the Nazarene will held at a later date.
